If you’re interested in learning the basics of beekeeping, we’d like to help get you started.
While focusing on the basics, this workshop will feature some topics of interest to the more experienced as well. Please join us at the Gathering Place in Mt. Joy for a fun day of learning and talking about our favorite pollinators.
The topics may change a bit but as of right now they’ll include:
- Honey Bee Biology
- Honey Bee Health
- Tools and Equipment
- How and Where to Get Honey Bees
- Choosing a Proper Location for Bees
- The Hows and Whys of Inspecting Honey Bees
Possible more advanced topics may include discussions on queens, nucleus hives, and diseases/pests.
Doors will open for registration at 8:00am, learning begins at 9:00am and the workshop will run until 3:00pm. Lunch and snacks will be provided.
The cost is $35 and includes a year long membership in the Lancaster County Beekeepers Society. The membership is good for the entire immediate family so the cost for additional family members attending the workshop is only $25.
Seats are limited so you must RSVP to attend. Please understand that the payment is non-refundable if you are unable to attend the day of the workshop. If this occurs we will make every effort to send you the materials from the workshop.
