The Lancaster County Beekeepers Society first met in the city in 1876. Since then, the beekeepers of the area have continued to meet throughout the years to trade knowledge, wisdom, and as the bees often remind us, opinion. Just as we believe we’ve really “figured it out”, the bees remind us that they don’t read the books and they’re going to do whatever they like in a given situation.
LCBS tries each and every year to introduce novices to beekeeping, to provide meaningful engagement to those who already have beekeeping knowledge, and to provide opportunities for learning and camaraderie for all members.
We welcome anyone who has an interest in honey bees and beekeeping. There’s no requirement for our members to have their own bees.
Please feel free to peruse our site and absorb the information we’ve collected over the years. If you’re on the fence about becoming a member, you can also feel free to attend a meeting “on us”. The list of meetings is on the right side of this screen. Click on any to see the details. We hope to see you there and if you enjoy yourself, please consider joining. We’d love to have you as a member.
